Factor(s) Influencing the Development of CALL

Talking about factors that influence the development of language learning using computers, the first thing that came to my mind is the industrial revolution. Industrial revolution has changed the way the world works and communicates. Everything we have today is way advanced than what we had back then and this advancement knows no limit. I believe it will keep improving by time. Same goes to language learning, it should be improving as the world evolves and it would be nearly impossible to not develop language learning suitable with the world's current technology. In short, I reckon that the industrial revolution and the advancement of technology are the main influences of the development of CALL.

Advantage/Disadvantage of CALL

Computer assisted language learning (CALL) has always been encouraged to be practiced by teachers as people believe it can provide experiential learning to students, boost their motivation to learn and thus, enhancing their achievement. CALL is also really conducive as it is flexible and can be easily accessed besides it helps students to build greater networking. Once students can get access to unlimited resources of language learning platforms, it opens a window for students to not only learn the language but also learn the culture and be more familiar with it. Those are some of the advantages of CALL that has been presented in the slides. I am here to discuss another advantage that I think students would benefit from CALL. Introduction

1. Introduce yourself. I am Azliza binti Abdul Aziz, native of Perlis but currently living in Melaka. I have a diploma in TESL from UniSZA and I have experience going for practicum in primary and secondary school.
